Découvrez et utilisez l'automatisation que vous possédez déjà

Une liste de contrôle en 8 étapes pour vous aider à transformer les fonctionnalités existantes de votre machine en véritable productivité.

Automation often is framed as a major investment that requires robots, complex integration, and significant changes to how a shop operates. For many machine shops, that perception alone is enough to delay any automation discussion.

“Machine shop automation doesn’t have to be of the Star Wars variety to produce a solid return on investment,” said David Andrews, regional general manager, Mazak Canada, Cambridge, Ont. “In fact, most shops are simply looking for a low-cost automation application that is easy to set up and use, cost-efficient and, most importantly, provides unattended machining time.”

What often is overlooked is that a large amount of automation is already built into modern CNC machines, quietly waiting to be used.

At purchase, most machines include simple automation features such as palletization, probing, tool measurement, and control-level unattended machining functions. Over time, those capabilities can fade into the background because of staff turnover, training gaps, or the pressure to keep parts moving. As a result, shops continue to rely on manual processes even when the machine is capable of doing more.

Here are eight ways you can make better use of existing machine tools to improve consistency, increase spindle uptime, and reduce unnecessary manual intervention.
